Launched in June of 2007, Eppic Surf is a new web destination and network for surfers, photographers, beach lovers, photo buyers, and anyone else who wants to check out the waves all over the world and talk with the people who shred and shoot them.
Eppic Surf is a profile-based online user-generated gallery where surfers can collect and share action shots of their latest ocean outing. It's an online storefront where photographers can display, market and sell their work. It's a worldwide network where surfers and photographers can communicate with each other about everything from boards to lenses to beach conditions.

The Eppic Surf Community
Eppic Surf is a place for the surf culture to engage each other through the use of still and video imagery. Unlike other surf media, Eppic Surf allows any surfer, at any place in the world, at any skill level, to participate and self-publish. Eppic Surf is an open community and encourages anyone to participate. Whether you are a pro surfer, sponsored amateur, weekend warrior or kook, Eppic Surf welcomes you. Wether you are a professional, amateur, student or wanabe photographer, Eppic Surf welcomes you. Eppic Surf is a resource for publishing regardless of your stature within the community.
Business Model
Eppic Surf succeeds when its members succeed! Eppic Surf makes it possible for photographers to have an instant online storefront. Every image they upload to their profile SESSIONS is available for sale as a print or digital download. Eppic Surf keeps a total of 18% of profits made by the member photographers on the site (15% plus 3% transaction fee.) For example, when a customer orders an 8x10 photo, Eppic Surf charges the photographer $3 for the actual print. the photographer is free to set his or her own price, but that size generally costs $25. This means that the markup is $22. Eppic Surf keeps 15% - about $3.50, plus the 3% transaction fee - while the rest goes to the photographer, about $17.50. Eppic Surf takes the order, makes the print and makes the deliver to the customer anywhere in the world, regardless of where the photographer or buyer lives, leaving the photographers to do what they do best - create images.
Eppic Surf is also in the process of establishing a stock photo agency where photo buyers will have access to the tens of thousands of images uploaded to the site every month. We are also establishing relationships with third-party sellers of content, all in the hopes of creating as much revenue as possible for our member photographers.
We are also currently exploring the use of traditional and non-traditional advertising on the site including (participatory video ads) promotions, sponsorships, contextual-based advertising and traditional banner advertising.
